Tripiti
With excellent
impressions of the Archaeological Museum, we continue towards the area
of the ancient city, the catacombs
and Klima, via the village of Tripiti. Stopping for a moment, we can
see the imposing church of Agios Nicholas, built in 1880. Picturesque windmills
crown the hillside above the village and although once used to grind
wheat,
they are now being adapted to provide unusual summer accommodation.
The small
fishing resorts of Mantrakia, Firopotamos, Areti and Fourkovouni each built on the edge of the Aegean Sea
in small protected coves, are all worth a visit, especially to photography
enthusiasts.
