The Folk Museum stands at the edge of the courtyard of Korfiatissa. It was set up in a 200 year old two-storey house, in 1967 by the Union of Athenian Miloans, inspired and organised by Zapheiris Vaos. Visitors can follow the lives of the Miloans from the 17th century and onwards.
We cannot fail to be impressed, from the moment we enter the parlour. Life-sized figures in local dress illustrate the social structure of the time. On the right of the parlour, are rare needlework samplers, weaving and the tools used for this craft.
We are fascinated by the workroom with its handloom, the kitchen, the bedroom, the cellar used for storing farm produce and the attic which has been transformed into a historical records office.
