Location:
Machi’s House is located in the heart of the picturesque capital of Milos, Plaka (Google
Map), in a quiet residential area, yet in very close walking distance from the traditional narrow alleyways of this beautiful old town, where the restaurants, café, shops and museums are found. There is a bus stop 100 m. away and private parking for our guests at no extra cost.
History:
The previous owners of the house, Theodoros Kentrotas and his son George, hid the famous statue of Venus de Milo in one of the rooms of this house, after accidentally discovering it as they were digging their farmland in 1820. Later, the statue was transferred in the Louvre Museum, where it is still being exhibited.
Accommodation:
This historic, stone-made building was initially renovated in 1996 and later in 2010 to meet the ever increasing contemporary demands of its guests. It consists of standard double rooms and studios/apartments with fully equipped kitchens housing 2-5 persons. They have access to the stone-made courtyard of the house and the garden or terrace/balconies with panoramic view of Milos and the sea. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioner, fridge, LCD TV, Wi-Fi, hair-dryer, coffee machine and iron.
