There is an airline connection from Athens to Milos, daily. There are more flights during the high season (May - October). The journey takes 30 minutes and the airport is 4.5 km from Adamas.

By ferry boat:
There are frequent sailings from Piraeus to Milos and daily during the summer season. The direct service takes 5 hours but if the ship calls in at other ports, (Kithnos, Serifos, Sifnos, Kimolos), it takes 7.15 hours. During the summer there are also services which connect Milos with Ios, Sikinos, Folegandros, Santorini and Crete and to the islands of the eastern Cyclades.
There are also daily departures of High Speed ferries.

Transport - Help for motorists

There is a good network of roads on the island. The central routes are asphalted and the others are, for the most part, easily passable dirt roads. Buses provide an adequate service for both local inhabitants and visitors. There are frequent services from Adamas to Triovassalos - Pera-Triovassalos - Plaka - Tripiti - Pollonia - Philakopi - Zefiria - Paliochori - Hivadolimni and Provatas.

Several small boats which sail from Adamas, can take you on daily trips round the island, stopping at a number of beaches to swim and in Kimolos for lunch.
From the beach at Kypos you can take a boat trip to the beaches of Geronta, Kleftiko, Geraka and Paliorema.
From Pollonia you can visit the neighbouring island of Kimolos by motor boat or on the small ferry boat.
Also, for sailing enthusiasts, there are yachts which can be hired for unforgettable all day cruises.

There are 5 petrol stations and several garages which will help out with any mechanical problems.

There is a Health Centre in Plaka which is open 24 hours a day with pathology, dentistry, X-ray and microbiological departments. During the summer, 20.06 to 10.09, there is also a cardiological and surgical department. The centre is also visited by doctors from Athens who specialise in the following: Pediatrics, ear nose and throat, opthalmics, gynecology and orthopedics . In Adamas the doctors' surgery is open:
Monday - Thursday 09.00 - 13.00 and Friday 11.00 - 13.00.
In Pollonia: Wednesday 12.00 - 14.00. In Zefiria: Friday 11.00 - 13.00.
There are pharmacies, private doctors' surgeries and dentists in Plaka and in Adamas.
For animals there is a vet who can be found at the Co-operative in Triovassalos.

Conference centre
Milos conference room
Set in an area of 10,000 square metres, just outside the village of Adamas is the CONFERENCE CENTRE George Iliopoulos.
It has been designed to operate all year round and is equipped according to the most recent specifications.
Apart from the conference areas which can accommodate 320 persons, there are managerial offices, a special press office, an internet room, a fully equipped doctors' surgery, parking area for 100 vehicles and all this is surrounded by a safety fence. All areas are fully air-conditioned and there is a fire prevention system. All areas have been designed for access by persons with special needs.
The technological systems within the centre provide optical-audio and telecommunication facilities for the support and convenience of all conference participants.

During the first weekend of July, there is the Milos Festival, a two day cultural event promoted by the municipality and with funding by Silver and Baryte Ore Mining Co.

Climate in Milos
The climate is typical of the Mediterranean with sunshine most days of the year. Cooling winds, the Cycladic Meltemi, blow from the north, almost daily, during July and August.

Apart from basic items, there is a range of souvenirs and craft work to be bought at reasonable prices. Traditional delicacies such as cheese pies, country rolls, local cheeses, tomato paste and spoon sweets are also readily available.

The island's large natural harbour and the profusion of beaches are ideal for all kinds of water sports. The seas around the island are considered to be a paradise - especially for harpoon fishing as there is such a plenty of fish.
There is a Scuba Diving School in Pollonia.
